If you cant see the difference between the two photos and legnth of grass perhaps you may want to see an eye doctor. Just saying.

The difference is minimal. I think the point is, if the grass is too much shorter there will hardly be any reason to have 3D grass on the fairway.
I'm not sure what PP has planned for the green but I'm assuming that the grass will be 2D.

The real photo I posted was much closer to the ground than Mike's screenshot, so it's kind of hard to compare unless it's the same angle.  Even so, if you look at the ball and then look at the golfer's shoes you can see that the length is fairly similar like I said (not exact but fairly similar).  The grass in the photo also looks trampled down, but you can still see the length of grass which is comparable to the length in JNPG.

What are you guys arguing about?  The devs said 3D grass will be visual only and designers can adjust the length of the grass.

3D grass...meh...for me. Rather have career mode/season mode. The way the game plays and content outweighs eye candy for me personally. The way the game looks now is fine imho..now to fix the 3C stutters.....

Friends of mine who have not had the stutters, 3rd click slides and the new bug this build meter jumps, are now experiencing what I have for over a year.  Eventually PP might finally agree to spend some more time on this issue as now the numbers of people with this problem is again growing.

Like IanK said, the difference is minimal.  You're the only one that can't see that.

We currently have a bug in TE which we're trying to fix where the FPS has a drop whether there are 4 million blades of grass visible or 1 blade of grass. Once that's fixed I'll post a video of it in action as I currently only get around 40 fps where I should be getting around 70.

Any updates on this & hopes of a video clip of it in action?

Totally awesome and gorgeous…
Great link, thanks for sharing!

Have you caught any wind on whether or not TGC2 will be using Nvidia Turf?

Unfortunately, not being accepted into the TGC2 closed beta, I have no clue.

LOL... every time I see that this thread has risen back up to the top, it has a Pavlovian effect on me, thinking it's because it has been bumped with a link to some in game video demonstrating the new Turf Effects  ^_^  Pretty impressive stuff in that Ghost Recon: Wildlands video though!

We've been working at upgrading PG to unity 5.5 with new lighting and 3d grass effects. Lots of work still to do on fine tuning, optimisation and then adding the new golfer models but at least here is a WIP screen shot from a test game we played earlier.

I assume that's playing from the rough!!!

With regards to Nvidia Turf Effects, the Cryengine3 does a pretty decent job of it too!!

There is no shame in defeat, there is only shame if you do not learn from it.
