Saw this video a week or two ago. It opened my eye's as to the simplicity of CF. Looks similar to APCD.

I understand that Unity is primarily used for terrain shaping and adding the veggies.  As you'll see in the video, it looks like a simple selection and deselection between CF tools and Unity tools. This should be fun, can't wait. Watch it here:  http://www.youtube.c...h?v=hmqEKRHzM-c

It doesn't look like anything has been done to improve land sculpting in Course Forge. It seems to just use Unity's default 'step and smooth' design which I found pretty awful during my brief look at Unity a couple of years ago. I think TGC's brush system for land shaping is far superior. I hope at some point some extra sculpting functions are added to Course Forge to make the process more enjoyable and allow for easier creation of natural looking contours.

Correct. CF doesn't do any of the sculpting, it's all handled by Unity. Always has been, always will be AFAIK. Same way CF doesn't handle imported 3D objects, its all Unity. CF just lets you overlay the meshes and plant the tees, pins, hazard areas and out of bounds.

 

I can only think the smoothing tools in TGC are asset packages designed by HBS and built in to the designer, whereas PP are just using what Unity already offers as standard.

CF also does adjustable automatic seam blending

of all meshes, including bunker lips with unlimited

combinations. I've never tried TGC, but I've seen it in 

action, and IMO, the precision is just not there. 

However, having fun is the main goal, and whatever

gets us there is the way to go.

As Daz said, HB studios added their own code to make up for the inadequacies of Unity's primitive sculpting tools. It's a shame that PP haven't done the same with Course Forge because it would make scratch building courses much easier if better tools were available. I hope there is a chance of such an addition in the future within Course Forge, or alternatively that Unity add such a feature themselves to a future version.
