Hey look, I get that people are cheaters and things need to be done in order to combat that, but I don't play in tournaments and quite honestly, it sucks that this so called "fix" ruined the game for me.   I use F2 from the fairway to survey the green and where I plan for my approach shot to land, not some stupid cheat.. 

 

Whatever Mike did to this in-game feature, sort of ruined it for me.   I have to keep quitting the game and going back in so that the F2 feature comes back.   And even then, it stops working again a hole or two later.  It is ridiculous.

 

It is a shame that some have to ruin it for others, but there has to be another way to keep this working... If this F2 feature is removed for those playing in tournaments, so be it, but don't ruin it for us solo players..  stinks, just when I started to get back into PG, now this nonsense happens.

I think something else might be going on with your game.

 

I just played about a dozen matches were I used all the F2, F3, & f4 keys and they worked.

 

Some of the games were through the PGLS app., some not.

Yeah, its weird.   So before I played again, I verified all my files through Steam and it worked fine.. at one point during my new game, I used F5 to roam around and F2 did not work again.   So who knows?   I verified again, and it works..  weird.

Well, for those of us who mostly play with AI, I considered this hardly a fix.   Great for tournament players, but not for single player.   If the AI happens to hit in a hazard and needs to drop, the F2 function gets disabled.   It is not even ME who hits in a hazard, but the AI.   I have to then shut down the game completely and fire it up where I left off, re-enabling F2.   BUT, whatever... its not like there are updates anyway, and I only play once in a while, so not that big of a deal to me.    I am sure that the 'fix' was something that MJ had little time to research and not well tested, but I guess if it works for the tournament players, good for them.

Hey maxie, whats up?   Man, I've tried so many times and perhaps its just me, but playing online with someone is like watching paint dry.  The game just takes way too long.. bad connections, players taking out measuring tapes to line up putts, over thinking their approach shots, it just took an awful amount of time to finish a round.  

 

I remember a guy I was playing with, we are on the 2nd or 3rd hole... We were already a half hour into the game, 2nd hole!..  there was this long delay, I typed to the guy, "are you still there?"   He was like.. yeah, I am deciding if I should use a 7 iron or 8 iron for this shot... dude, it was literally 3-5 minutes!!   After 5 holes and an hour or so later, I bailed...   I just couldn't take it any more.   Other times, connections are bad, etc.  

 

With AI, its grip and rip!   That's the way I like to play..  and I think I've got the AI skills down to play at my level or better, so it is challenging for me (I'm not that good).   I have all kinds of random skill points set for each AI, probably around 10-12 of them created...  its fun.  One is better with driving, the other is better with short game, another is good at putting, etc. etc.  I also have a custom "points MOP" game that I created, with all kinds of point events in the game.   it mirrors after a MOP I have in Links2k as well.   I've always enjoyed this type of method of play game, it makes every shot crucial for piling up points to win! 

 

Bottom line is, I don't play PG all too much anyway.. and when I do play it, I don't want the hassle of going online and experience the stuff I did when I first played online.. too painful.   Playing AI, I get a game in and get out.. and that is mainly to experience new courses or ones I have not played yet and enjoy a casual round.

The solution is, whenever a ball is hit into a hazard and when you have to perform a drop...  just exit out of the game completely, so the game is saved.   Once you fire up PG again, resume your game and F2 is reset.   And this is for when either your or AI hit into the hazard, doesn't matter.

 I played Devils Island figuring my AI would hit into the water quite often .The first time the F2 key fixed itself after a couple of holes (without exiting). The second time it took 4 or 5 holes before the F2 key worked again.
Obviously not a fix -just more information.
