I am close to the half way point of course 4.  I've got 9 holes in and have most of the planting done.  I am still tweaking the colors of trees/bushes and what not, but most of the planting is done and the holes are playable.  No 3D grass until the very end.

 

Its fictional mountain course at sea level   I made it at sea level because as a player, I just don't care for the yardage adjustment that elevation requires.  Its being made based on my luv of the alt-shot format.  So, its gonna be a little bit tough, but it will not be a fantasy course or anything like that.  It will play like a real course that is exacting.

 

Anyway, I am bit burned out and decided to take break before resuming.  In the meantime, here are a couple pics:

Thanks Joe.  I didn't use a second mesh.  Instead, I used Shimon Tools to "raise the roof."  In hindsight, I probably could have saved a fair amount of time by using a second mesh(s).   Making rocky mountains takes a fair bit of time.  Oh well, I am committed to what I've started.  Might also be committed to somewhere by the time I finish

Courses in the pipeline are why I loved Links. They also make this game something to look forward to for many years. Yea, the gameplay has a quirk here and there, but damn, I sure hope we don't get DRM'ed out of years to come of cool courses like this.

Short version: Who cares if there's no PG2?

Well, I have some OCDish issues and sometimes I REALLY get tangled up in the weeds.  I end up spending time on stupid stuff like a small area that will only see an occasional errant tee shot.  So, for 9 holes I probably already have 120 hours into it.

 

There are many on here that could do a whole course in under that time.  Heck, some people could probably do a couple courses...  Thing is, if I finish this one will I just want to start another? So, I plug away doing a little here, and a little there, and sometimes let it sit for a couple weeks without doing anything to it.

After a short break, I am moving forward again.  Hole 13 was completed this morning.  It is a 190ish yard par 3.

Well, in the past 3 weeks I've been moving at a snail's pace.  In fact, if i don't speed things up, I still have 3 months of work left.  I gotta find some motivation!!!

Ian, you of all people know it doesn't work that way    When you are sick and tired of looking at the the damn thing, you do what ever you can to feel like you are still working towards completion.  All the while you are just flat out tired of looking at it.  So, posting a few pics is sooo easy and just flat-out-pure NIRVANA!

I probably will not be adding wide life because the file is already 389 mb.  My goal is to keep it under 400.  There are no houses planned for the same reason.  It will just be trees and sod even though that is kinda boring.  I like the wide life also so maybe I will can squeeze some birds in at the end... will see how large the file is when all the holes are in.  In theory, if I don't add anything new, is shouldn't get much larger.

OK Ian, I have a few teaser pics of hole 16.  I have nothing for 17 and 18 though.  Then, when I finish those, I have to 3DG the whole course     I am pushing forward though.
