I think Southern Charm was the first one Justin completed with updated non-z fighting windows.

Sorry axe360, I was out most of the day today. Just now seeing your post. The Brick house 12 pitch  also has the reflective windows. They are the only two  that I did so far with the  reflective windows and different textures. If all goes well, hopefully  later next week I can add the reflective windows to one or two of the other houses I did.

No no no Justin. No sorries my friend.

I really don't even care about the reflective windows although they do look good, I just don't like z-fighting. Since I'm not too up on this stuff, are you guys saying that when you see z-fighting on other structures, that is cause from the Windows? Because I see it on the sides and on the garage doors etc.

Just wanting to understand it better. In other words if a structure has z-fighting all over it, do you have to change something with the windows or is it something else causing that? Because the Cedar Houses have zfighting on other areas besides the windows. So kind of confusing to me.

If it's a trade secret, I understand..

Anyways, thanks for the reply and most definitely the work you are putting into this so We can have structures.

Peace

Larry,

Z-fighting occurs when you have two planes that overlap and are too close to each other.  The windows, doors, garage doors, etc. in the original DPR house builder use a second plane to place them on the walls of a building. The buildings Justin and I have made available, not including the last two done by Justin, used that method to add windows, etc.  If we didn't move the window planes far enough away from the walls, then z-fighting will occur. Version 1.4 of the house builder will be using reflective windows to eliminate the overlapping planes, that should  eliminate the z-fighting problem.

Too get a better understanding of z-fighting, watch the first part of this video.

Justin and I have been privileged to work with Matt on the upcoming v1.4 of the House Builder. I have spent the past week or so developing the new window system that can use either reflective or non-reflective windows. It eliminates window planes overlapping the wall planes and should eliminate the z-fighting that occurred with previous versions of the House Builder. I created this two unit duplex/condo to debug the system. All windows, even those in the doors are reflective.

You can remove the chimneys if you don't like them or alter them to your liking. I've found that that's easy to do. You can even put new textures on them.

Ok so some progress for me. Thought I would learn this. Hope I can. This is the apt. building Matt teaches us to build to learn our way around. It's awesome!

Gr8 tuts and with a lot of help from Justin9926 I was able to finish, pretty much with the apt. building.

Big thank you to Matt and Justin. I still have miles to go. ;) This is a blast! Maybe I can spur others to take it up?

Looks great Larry. Hoping Justin may have tipped you off on the newer window creation? My old method in those videos would create some Z fighting issues.

Larrykuh has put in a significant time toward "cut out" windows as well.

You needed to learn the basics from those videos that you've completed. I'm just letting you know that once you feel good with it all, we've got one more trick to teach you.

Thanks Matt and yes Justin let me know and about the newer windows and I just wanted to complete the apt. before I asked you about it and since I guess I overloaded your pm's (lol) I can't get in touch with you.

Yeah, following your tuts and trying something on my own is going to be a big difference but I would like to learn with the new windows, if you would be so kind?

I want to build my own clubhouse but and I agree with justin it may be best to start out with a few smaller buildings/houses for my course before moving on to my clubhouse but my head is still spinning from some of the amazing things that can be done with this! WOW!!

Thank ya.

Oh, went and re-read your comments and had glossed over the "when you feel comfortable" part. That has not happened yet. lol So, I will need more time before I get there. :)
