Typically you can delete extra geometry you don't want in unity by selecting it and deleting it.

I personally like this user's houses

https://3dwarehouse....wall?nav=models

let me know if this helps

Don't use blender so no joy there. At Sketchup most of the objects had white backgrounds which didn't show up in the game. Now everyone is using background colours and they do show up in the game so the number of useable objects is very small now.

Yep, they are great but all coloured backgrounds.

You can also copy the object and paste it in a new scene and save with the 2015 version of sketchup.

I don't seem to have the background issue.  I typically save as a collada file .dae.

Hey DP, do you happen to still have the Grandstand Blocks you designed?

Saw a video, but no link to them. Thanks

I have a Unity package in my Dropbox that may be it. I'm away from computer for 7 days but I'll put this up and you let me know what's in it.

I had made it at some time so colors could be changed. Might have to use Photoshop file to do that. You could also add logos. I had a blue, green, and white version.

Should also have stackable parts to give some variety.

Thanks DP this looks very useful.

Off the bat I'm running into trouble. I've never used this before but it's not working for me like in the video. I don't have the layout sheet "All blocks v1_3" in my folder?  I have a "building_blocks_v1_3" but all the items are bunched together in one cluster and not spread out on the neat sheet like in the video?

Highfade,

I have not looked at that in Unity in several years as I work with a Blender version. I will need to download the file that's shown here and try it out. Maybe Bortimus can chime in on what he is doing to get going in the right direction.

I know I was a bit of a newbie then and the All Blocks was not zeroed correctly when creating the prefab.

You may have better luck trying to understand the naming of the blocks and drag out the individual blocks you need.

Thanks, I'll mess around a bit with it and see if I can get something going.

Are you using v1_3 or  v1_3_1?

My version of v1_3_1 doesn't have this issue.  I'm not sure what is wrong.

I'm using the one in the OP link.  I think I'll try the Blender option, thanks bortimus.

Waaaaaaay overdue on this post, like 2 years, haha...but others have told me they couldn't get the House Builder to work in Unity or that the package download was incorrect. Looks like I linked to the Blender files for both links on first page. For those that have tried in past without success, I am sorry. I have fixed the links. So, I believe. May be another 2 years to up date if I am wrong.

Video on

#1 - A way to remove overlapping vertices...this should fix flashing issues with JNPG and Dynamic Skies ON

#2 - Creating a prefab of a build in Unity and exporting into another project

Enjoy!

If you are crafty in Blender, after joining the object and removing doubles, leave edit mode (Tab) and if you choose Mesh-Transform-Origin to Geometry, your object will have the correct center point in Unity and should drag out correctly with the cursor.

My apologies for not having that in the video.
