Because Speedtrees are a commercial product, a deal had been worked out to provide a coupon for anyone that got CF to use to get trees.  They're dragging their feet.

Do you mean the trees that are in existing courses?  Cause if so, then you will be disappointed then I guess.  The current courses have Speedtree trees.

Surely there are hundreds of tree options out there at the various 3d model sites (turbosquid etc),  Ive used all sorts on my unity version of my local course. Are Speed tree ones better, lower poly of something?

Has there been any further contact with Speedtree?  Does anyone know?  I'm beginning to worry that we may never see those coupons.

It not coming out. I don't think course designers want to give us this tool.

Uh, it's not up to the beta test group dude.  I'm dying for the community to get ahold of it.

Can someone PLEASE correct the spelling of this thread title?  It's giving me an OCD complex.

LOL, since the same spelling is in the initial post, I suspect that the OP main language is not English. I've seen much worse.

Your stridency and persistence is admirable, Legerejeff, in a rather disturbing sense. But a watched kettle never boils and I have no bombs to drop. Pray leave me out of your crusade, irritating nagging will not hasten the advent of CF by a nanosecond.

Let us not forget that the ubiquitous rubes on this celestial body are not apt to comprehend complex verbiage.  ;)

Lest we forget Game Of Thrones! NOW WHAT WERE WE TALKING ABOUT!

I swear...this forum has gotten thinner on substance and shorter on concern.

The word "soon" floats around a lot.

Adding two more cents(maybe fifty) to this. I just don't feel like I should be auditioning for something that was promised a long time ago. To me when something is being beta tested only those that have a lot of time to dedicate to a beta test should be involved. In any given month I might have 5 to 60 hours to design, so there for I don't consider myself an ideal beta candidate. Yet all I want to do in my free time is design. So whats the hold up here? (A bunch of curse words) all I want to do is make some (more curse words) golf courses. When I read comments from devs that say (paraphrasing, but the meaning was implied) if you wanted to design you would have already jumped through the hoops, its down right off putting. So give me access to the CF i will report any flaws or bugs I come across to help make it better, but I will work at my own pace.

I finally got a hold of someone at SpeedTree.  They informed me we should have the coupon codes by the end of the week.

Hopefully this will be the final piece of the puzzle. I've had a full unity layout awaiting CF mesh overlays for weeks :)

If even taken to creating a golf cart that you can ride around on.. only so many times you can up its top speed to 100 and use some of the mounds to try and jump the lakes :)

I read through the whole thread. I'm a little concerned with the "in the open" slap downs of community members that the developers and administrators have shown in this thread. There is history there for sure but a professional does not air their dirty laundry for all to see. That's my point of view. I want to use the Course Forge tool at some point but I would be uncomfortable being a closed door BETA tester. I might even apply and change my mind. I would not expect a developer or administrator to hold that over my head. At least not publicly.

I was getting impatient as well. No, I haven't even downloaded Unity yet. That's really my business isn't it. And for someone to tell me that I should be more patient because the learning curve is great and what are you complaining about any way; you haven't even downloaded Unity yet, seriously. That really is my own business. Download Unity and prove yourself and you might get invited into the closed beta...again, seriously...that is some peoples attitudes. I do not want to do that. I want to get Course Forge download Unity and start from there. That again is my personal business. This is an attitude that just divides the community and produces less customers overall from my perspective.

The latest post about SpeedTree is welcome but would it have hurt to come out every week or so and update with something as simple as "We are having problems reaching SpeedTree. We are still waiting on them to complete the process to release Course Forge. We apologize for the delay and apparently this will not occur "soon". We will keep you updated." (if this was posted consistently somewhere, I apologize but I've never seen it.). By handling it the way it has and with this latest late revelation the developers have left the door open to conspiracy theories.

Now some of you might be saying things like "They're a small development group", "They are too busy to hold our hands"; Whatever  excuse you can give, bottom line is PP if you keep this specific type of behavior up you are going to lose customers. Please resolve your differences with members of the community privately and show some more professionalism on the forums. PP got into this business so the onus is on them to be professional, consistent and transparent in their communication. That is what most successful companies do well. I would say on the whole I'm very happy with the development team and their efforts but after reading this thread I have some reservations about having a professional attitude to try and retain customers not be dismissive and condescending in their replies. I think you have some work to do in taking the high road when others are on the low road. There are some lessons to learn here from this thread.

Honestly, I think some of the developers and administrators and even some moderators need to take it on the chin more publicly and resolve only serious issues privately (less is always more with moderation on forums) and with proper enforcement tools.

Finally, developers, please try and avoid the word "soon". I have seen so many developers fall into this trap. Sometimes over and over. You should only use "soon" when you are already ready. Trust me on that one, I've seen it many times before.

I have great respect, so far,for the development team and they usually do a stellar job and I appreciate what they have given us so far and will always appreciate the work they do to further the game.

Sincerely,

SC
