Before [about a few months ago or more] often when I hit a wedge shot the ball would often hit the green and spin way back moving back many feet did they change this to where there is less spin or whatever caused that. Posts at that time from my inaccurate recollection stated just to use less club but now it hits up there and is much more enjoyable but then maybe its because I have the difficulty settings set both to Moderate regarding snap and sweet spot ???

Thanks

JH,

These 2 videos (20 minutes of your time) that Mike Jones put together are well worth a watch and explain the secrets of PG's spin control.

One of the best replies ever made in a forum see above );  - even a caveman could learn from this reply

wow hitting with more power is my friend as long as my ability or lack thereof does not get in the way this is great. My previous strategy was simple -- always go for center of green and try to 3 putt - lol - This is great info here - plus he has a radio voice so its pleasant to listen to I can change this noise out with my current ocean noises I sleep by. :)

other comment click on the YouTube "Watch on Youtube button" and then subscribe to Mike Jones here you can see other videos and any other stuff he puts up in the future. whoo hooo

I wish everyone would watch these!

I had not seen these videos and they are very well done and explain everything you need to know about spin.

Thanks for posting!

These videos are old.  I know this because when they were produced the follow cam worked on replays.  For many months the replay via follow cam has been badly broken.  One cannot see the shots due to the cam being many seconds behind.  I know this was off topic, but requesting it to be addressed in other posts has never received a reply from PG on a fix date.

ps... The videos are great though.

Mike uploaded them to YT in November last year.

The overswing in PG doesn't necessarily get you 30yds further like old games, but adds spin rate to the ball, due to the extra power, so used correctly makes the wedges especially even stronger in the scoring department.

Consequently, it also adds side-spin to the ball on drives, woods and long iron shots.

Here's one from a round I was playing earlier in the beta test build @ Illinois. You can golf like a jedi when you can control the spin (and yes, I did make the putt, lol)

Nice shot Daz.  Can anyone give any tips on spinning a pitch shot?  In the previous build I could loft up slightly then swing past 100% and the ball would check after a bounce.  Now it just seems to roll out no matter what swing strength I choose.

Keith,

Any particular distance/club you are trying to master? Ball reaction with pitching can vary depending on length of shot and club being used.

I usually pitch with a 56 degree wedge Daz.  The default distance is 50 yds., so on a shot of say 60 yds. I loft up a bit and over swing trying to get good club head speed.  Still I just don't get that grab on the greens I used to.
