But back to Five Sisters, my latest project, and I have decided to let all of you watch the birth of this baby as if you were the midwife.

Trouble fell like a dark cloud over the valley of the five sisters today, when THIS caught my attention:

Pt7ejGD.jpg

THIS being the particle effect of the waterfall becoming visible at billboard distance. Solid trees cover the waterfall, billboards, well, dont. That's just one of so many little Unity surprises that sneak up on you from behind, kick you in the nuts, rip off your head and piss down your neck. Bitter much? It will get sorted, all of this stuff does one way or another, and if somebody here has an useful idea, write to Blammocorp! Ltd, Kablammia Republic, c/o Mrs Eileen Dover, who will gladly answer your phone call 24/7 while I'm out on the course.

There's also some good news. Holes 2, 3 and 4 have appeared.

TBhFYyj.jpg

2 is a 660 yd uphill par 5 from the challenge tees. Member and Ladies tees are usually considerably shorter, btw. Even at high altitude, this is a 3-shot hole. (Wait for 7...)

Hole 3 is a downhill par 4 with two different greens, no big deal, placement should superseed brawn here.

And 4 is the first of the par 3's with a peninsula green in one of the curves of the sister river. It's 220 yds in length, which seems much, but it's also 20 yd downhill and at this high, alpine altitude, a 6 iron will easily cover the distance.

And how was your day?

What are you doing over there in 2D land anyway?

My day started with a glass of Diksen Cider, a local brand.

My boss likes Diksen Cider, My dog likes Diksen Cider, even the preachers

wife likes hot Diksen Cider. I prefer Diksen Cider over ice myself.

intersting problem there, yes those unity surprises really get to me- add more grey hairs each time , maybe some rocks at bottom there, to hide that and give more 3d effect.

well done K11

I finally decided to try and update a course I layed out a long time ago to the new CF. This got me into finally trying to do some of the 3D the course would need. Now the planting is beginning.

Looks good Tim.  After all these years I have not a chance to play Dwan IRL.  Hopefully, will be able to play in PP some day.  :)

The remarkable thing about this image is the information contained in the 2nd line of text in the top left hand corner...

I would like to apologise profusely to all unsuspicious golfers about all the stuff that I am going to do to them at the Five Sisters. You heard me: I'm going to do stuff to you! This one is a bit beyond fictional and might correctly be categorized as "Fantasy".

Ah well, not for me to question the path, I just follow it wherever it leads.

The remarkable thing is Hacker Harry only has a 3 wood,

when he needs a 2 wood or some sort of cannon stick.

How about this one.

BJnD5m0.jpg

I doubt I will be able to bring this course from Links to PG however as Unity doesn't allow me to make protruding terrain.

I'm not very good at videos just yet, think I need

to change the bit rate and compression, and

K11 Just out of curiosity I seem to recall you saying the elevation was 1600? I know the ball carries a bit further on Club Schwarzwald and I believe it's listed as 375. So my question is how far will the driver go on average on Five Sisters?

I've played there already in my test builds, Justin. I'd say that my clubs get 10% extra length on average, from the driver down to LW. I suspect even the putter distances are changed (not sure). A 100% driver flies around 300 yds. A maxed driver near 320y. Some drives are 70ft downhill (around 350 yds) others some 50ft uphill (around 300 yds).

Rule of thumb: It's one club less for uphill shots, 2 clubs less for downhillers... Basically, my 3W plays about the same as my driver used to at sea level. Quite tricky to get distances right.

The problem is, of course, that most players will ignore the altitude info on the splash screen and rely on sea level club distances ... and get it gruesomely wrong. Heh heh!

Thanks for the response. The course is looking great as usual. Really looking forward to playing it when It's completed. As all of your other courses it looks like course management will be key. Keep up the great work K11! As well as all of the other designers in here all of your courses look Excellent.

PS I'm sure OGT would have a field day for longest drive competition on this when it's done :D
