I also really enjoy designs that allow reward for risk, similar to hole 17 on Willow Heath, one of my favourites... and playing on tour pro level can make even "easy" holes challenging.

K11

Looking good as ever my man

Not being a pick nitter, sometimes its a good design if there are a few easier routes and gambles that a player can go for with the extra danger to really fu, err, muck it up.

Mother Nature is still the best hazard over a pesky bulldozer in my long and links filled life and hope that she can play a good part in the protection of this coastal beaut!

p.s. havent played PG for a long while, especially with the sound on, but upon hearing your dulcet's, my eldest daughter asked me why the boogeyman was speaking from the computer- she is only 7 btw

I'm not your man, my chap. There are plenty of easy roads still at Karen. It's just those guys who think they simply must use driver off every tee and should be entitled to a landing area as big as half the Sahara desert who might end up experiencing a little bit of funny pain.

My most distinguished salutations to your young daughter. I retroactively enjoyed instilling some apprehension and/or horror into her.

I'm a bit hesitant about billboard livestock. They may work seen from 200+ meters away, but close views are a bit too static.

Warning: If you plant them as grass billboards, btw, they will whoft and bend with the wind.

I agree K11, Billboard cattle swaying in the wind curdles the milk and looks ridiculous.

I'll settle for just the bovine sounds, of course some will say,"Where's the Beef"?

Well, you could introduce non-grass billboards and place them manually to avoid bellydancing cows... The sound alone, without any visual support, smacks a bit of helplessness... How about a cutout of John Wayne sitting still on horseback atop a nearby hill in his unforgettable Chisum pose?

How about some semi-transparent horsemen generated by particle effects blowing through the air? That way you would get in some "Ghost Riders in the Sky" and complete your collection of thematic clichés?

Hmmm, I don't know K, There are cows near where I live,

I hear them, but I never see them unless I walk or drive a mile away,

it's quiet here, and I also hear a train 8 miles away early in

the morning.

John Wayne? I doubt he ever shot a real gun, his real name was Marion Morrison.

Anyway, I'll throw in at least one Mooing Milk Machine.

Uh, Oh, I can hear it now..."Don't you ever,ever,ever,........ever.....

Just started messing about with Unity planes and have a question or two

for those in the know, as the Unity manual is mostly jibberish to me.

Can a Plane be adjusted to always face the camera like a billboard,

but without the wind affecting it? Is this what K11 means by a non-grass

billboard?

EDIT: My bad, it must be the Christmas spirit, thinking about Noel, lol.

No, I wasn't writing about your BS, I was referring to your cows.

BS and BULLOCKS are two totally different things.

Interesting, indeed... After exposing myself to some gibberish as well it turns out that this is quite tricky. My bad, I had been wrongly assuming that Unity was a user-friendly game engine. That was quite unforgivable of me and I really should know better by now.

Rather than a plane, btw, you should use a Game Object > Quad. That one stands already upright and has a lot less tris.

But billboarding it, hm, that requires workarounds and scripts... and all sorts of geeky dark magic whose mere existence causes me to exceed my daily kitten allotment. So scrap that, I'd say, or place your quads in such a strategic manner that they can do their job as non-billboards.

Beautiful effort. A links shot on a links course - that's a gimme!

Still too shabby is my own Project, Karen. But it's coming along. The following images are from inside the game and not only serve the purpose to show and tell you some stuff, but to record the lighting conditions and give me important input for when I start to fine-tune the colours in CF. All still a bit too strong and saturated, a few too strong normals maps in there, I'm now in the vey incremental process of getting those textures just about right. I'm very happy with my irregular green texture, though - that won't change.

First two images were taken at Dynamic Light ON, 10 A.M, sunny, the last one at Dynamic Light OFF

Agree on the green textures, that's a winner.

Thanks guys. Bless the Almighty Photoshop who provides us with all manners of helpful goodness in his merciful ways.

Render Filter: Clouds. It creates a suitable, tileable pattern as the base for a selection that can be used to apply slight colour changes to the original texture. It's so beautifully simple...

Photoshop...  In my 20+ years of computer play, I have never gained any interest, and haven't even had any version of it on any of my computers for at least 10 years.

Is Photoshop knowledge necessary to do CourseForge, or is it used just for advanced tweaking of textures, colors, etc.?

Went to Digital Storm and ordered me up a nice gaming machine :)

Intel i3 chip at 3.9G

16 gig DDR4 RAM

GeForce 970 GTX 4gig vid card

240G SSD

1TB HD

Windows 10

It's HERE!!  JNPG runs great with all the bells and whistles at max or close to it...  I still turn 3D render off for the swing, tho.
