Unlike K11's spectacular screenies there is not much to see

here, but thought I'd post something besides mistakes. I have

mostly Unitized and Course Forged this small piece of Carolina

property which will be known as Brushy Creek Golf Club.

Planting has just begun and will probably change as I experiment

with different grasses and trees. 

Here's a first look at Hole one, details pending.

Looking really nice NoPutt.  Thanks for sharing.  Guys, your water looks much different (better) than what I use goofing around with U5.  Mine is way choppy and whatever settings I choose don't seem to dial it in much.  Plus I seem unable to change the water color.  It remains a clear color no matter what setting I apply.  Are you using the Water4 Advanced prefab or is there something different supplied with CF?

I'm using this: WaterProDaytime - and I have no idea if this is best practice by PG/CF standards... The image below shows the path to it, it comes with your regular U5 Unity assets. Just drag and drop it into your scene. Bring it up in the inspector for fine tuning. I'm using reflection only, no refraction.

 

 

To get a decent reflection, you need to raise the Texture Size value in the Water Script to 1024. Perhaps this alone would help your Pro Water look better already if there is a similar setting for it.

Thanks Keith, I use the Pro Daytime also, I believe it is a 

plane type mesh that can be moved , stretched , etc , to fit your needs.

Also adjusted in the inspector to 1024.

Rockage - all them stony doodahs what stand around a bit everywhere

Grasses - the very old-fashioned 2D low-res not at all next gen ones 

Pray for pott bunkers, get them, include them.

Pray for Speedtree tropical plants and bushes.

Plant more pins, detail design of greens.

Damn! Barely did I think I was done that this nasty little feeling came over me and this distant inner voice started telling me that I forgot something!

And so I had.

 

No rain shelters in these parts, but it's always nice to have a place in the shadow to take the weight off your feet or wait patiently for that Japanese four ball in front to be overtaken by the glaciers of the next ice age: Hence the need of luxury pavilions between all the holes. (Our guests at the lodge are not in good physical shape anyway, then there's the booze, so they might appreciate a bit of a sit-down...)

 

 

Oh, and the contractor delivered the new bridge elements. Sorry, NoPutt, I was happy with your model, but now there is a style clash between it and my general resort design guidelines. Had to order something else.

 

 

 

The wavy curves are designed to slow drunken golfers and their carts down and prevent them from drowning (or make them ill so that they can puke out their liquor and then order some more food and drink). The porcupination of the place is progressing nicely.

 

Caveat: Both above images were taken with a long-lens camera not available in the game. So there is some parallax displacement happening in both.

So... rockage. The first very big rocks have arrived. Just one model, but copy-pasted-rotated and resized a few times:

 

 

They are mainly scenery. Only in very few cases they will stretch into golfing area and try to annoy players by blocking their line of sight. Most notably on the 11th, short par 5. The green would be behind the cliff in a line where Tara stands.

 

 

Or on the preceding 10th. Landing area of the drive is right down the left, between the dirt pit and the sand hazard

 

 

But more often than not the rocks will simply block the horizon and provide a natural frame for the plot

 

 

I like the shapes, but I'm not convinced about the UV mapping of those things. The current TOP projection means that steep bits are getting stretched too much. And there is a bit of pattern repeating. They look okay from a great distance, though.

 

 

But I will have to figure out a way to map them a bit more precisely. Later. For the moment they will have to do.
