All awesome pics as usual K11.

My only gripe is with the last pic. Those stakes should be RED as the hazard is running alongside the hole, so it is a lateral water hazard.

Another step forward for the CF, good to see it's being updated.

Stupendous pics K11. Looks like the Black Swan is going to

be a real treat to play, can't wait to hear it honk.

I like the idea of random tee marker placement within

the zone,  12 yards doesn't sound like much, but we all

know it can mean the difference between dry and wet.

Any chance we see the Black Swan on St. Patrick Day?

So that's that. Pot bunkers are still missing, but a well-connected source from high up in the PP hierarchy has sworn a multitude of his holiest oaths to me that pot bunkers, one fine day, will be added to CF. That is a bit of a vague promise, though, so there still is a danger that a few dozen kittens might get strangled while I patiently wait.

Ta!

The 'Black Swan' is looking great!!

Just let me know, I can have a shipment sent and received in 24 hours or less!

That would be a matter of perspective, Daz. Here's the same hole seen from above: double green, with arrows showing the line of play.

UgsEhxY.jpg

That said, I'm not at all versed with hazard rules and might indeed get it wrong. Then again, I don't care that much.

Addendum: Hazard stakes are a few yards inside the cliff edge, to avoid golfers going too near to it and falling to their death. Rule of thumb at the Black Swan: Keep your ball away from all sectors where there is no land!

Thanks, NoPutt. Not a chance. TheBigYin519 is currently making a test build for me to play on. With any luck I will see it on SPD. End of March might be a possibility, but that would depend on PP being willing to add a decent ocean, perform the final build and of course adding it to the EA - which is out of my hands.

Just wanted to get my own Show and Tell in here, This is a private course about 6 miles from my workplace. Lidar data was great and the course looked awesome so I had to give it a go first before I do Hazeltine National because if I screw up anything before I know more about the course forge at least it will be this one..hehe

I did notice some problems when on the tee boxes of the second hole and in the bunkers on the second hole which seem to tile but there the same ones on hole 1 and I didn't see no tiling there I don't think. Anyways I just wanted to show people what I am working on. It will still be sometime but slowly getting better figuring out the course forge and how it works and how it still NEEDS work..lol

Just extract it and click on the .exe and run in fullscreen - hit ALT/F4 to get out.

Good show, well told.

...or so I guess. Awfully sorry, but I'm not registered to dropbox - and .exe files are not nearly mac-friendly enough.

Nevertheless, thank you for sharing.

Looks super Joe, Quite frankly I'm a bit jealous. I would still like to see a tutorial on how your getting your terrain. I haven't had much luck with global mapper and haven't gotten any Lidar data in the areas I have looked at, and I'm still waiting on CF :(

Sorry Kablammo, here is a screenshot at least. Maybe next week some time i'll throw up some more screens. Jim, I'll still see what I can do with the tutorial, I'd rather show in a movie tutorial but when I speak something my mouth can't open because I get stage fright.. bahaha

I'd like to do a SAS Planet tutorial as well because with all the images you guys have had to stitch together OMG i'd die. I remember doing that back in the day though but SASPlanet will download all the tiles (I like to do the 20x) and stitch them all together for you. My main Overhead Image for Windsong is 9700x9700 and is only 28 megs and fits perfectly on the elevation after I bring it into Global Mapper with me and then export it.

I have all the steps written down but it is much nicer to just show everyone because we all know Men are visual. :P

Just a FYI - Highest res of image in unity is 4096 so no point in doing overheads large than that. Looking good Joe.

Black Swan.

Progress Report.

  • Final touches all over the place.
  • Serious overhaul of holes deemed too easy while play-testing. Repositioned 5 tee zones.
  • Added 20+ bunkers as a result of play-testing, now that I know where the balls wants to land.
  • Tees now with tee boxes for randomised tee positions
  • Redesigned all greens, reduced available pin positions to 4.
  • Finagled with the textures, added a bit more saturation for bozos who want their colours to always sparkle.
  • Ran extensive tests with lighting (angle and intensity, second directional) to produce dramatic mood. Bozos preferring 9 to 5 dynamic real weather wishy-washy flat illumination will kindly not use the non-dynamic default settings.

Still to do:

  • Water hazards (in conjunction with current privat testing of the new drop mechanics (which will be cool...))
  • Place sound loops.
  • Mooch a decent ocean water out of somebody.

Spectacular Black Swan pics K, sorry you had to lug in more sand,

or did Tara drive the dozer? I'm also sorry for the tormenting cruelty

you suffer, but I can't help but to think of all the kittens that also went

to that great sandbox in the sky.

It's a word, google it. But the sense of "to finagle" is not the one I intended to convey. Sorry, English is my third language (actually fourth, if you count ancient latin, but why would you?), and I sometimes lack the patience to look up word definitions for every of my posts.

Still, finagle is the wrong word altogether since it signifies falsehood and fraudulent intent. "Fiddled with" would be proper. Or wait, I'm rather going to go for "tinker with". Thank you for calling me out on this, Daz. Language is key - and a holy craft well worthy of meticulousness.

I know it's a word. I know I could have Google'd it. I wanted to ask you.

I wasn't 'calling you out' just having a bit of fun, but thanks for the words a plenty reply.
