Normal mapped, which is Unity-speak for bump-mapped.
No texture of mine shows its face on my courses without wearing a normal map.

There's nothing normal about your designs K11!

So true but only one flopped IMHO. All the others are very cool.

I do beg to differ. Exhibit A below clearly shows a perfectly normal drive on a perfectly normal par 4 culminating in a perfectly normal par. I submit that it does not get more normal than that. I'm a total square!

Not wanting to be left out on the high altitude excitement, I continue chiseling away at the canyon (which now resembles moon sand in non-painted areas) in developing Terra Firma. I have 15 holes roughly in place. The previous holes in the video from several pages back are now holes 10-15. Unfortunately, I design at a very slow pace. Contouring a single green or approach may distract me for an hour or so. General layout is straight forward. Fine tuning can be a bit cumbersome. Growing pains, I guess. For those anxiously awaiting CF, I spend probably less than 10% of my time fiddling with splines. The majority of time spent has been with terrain shaping, terrain painting, and CF textures. I am sure most could care less on these one day published courses posts. I guess I do it to keep me encouraged to complete it. Designing is definitely a luxury for those with plenty of free time, which is why I currently work in sporadic cram sessions.
Hole #4 - par 3, 205 from Championship - from green looking back to tee view, holes 2 and 3 far off in distance, some shimonkorrigation will needed for the water edges
Holes 5 and 6 - above view, both par 4s
Hole 5 approach from the fairway
Hole #8 - par 3, view from Championship tees, 115 yds

Caged? Are they dope? Would you perchance, friend from Sweden, mean "captivated?" - if so, my apologies, I was going for irritated, alienated or adversely agitated. It's my subtle way of telling visiting computer golfers "You're not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy."
Poor Dorothy always needs to be reminded of that, and not just in a geographical context. And no ruby slippers to be found anywhere, either!

Well .... I tried to use the Swedish word "Fängslad" ..... wich has a doublemeaning :
It means that you are either inprisoned or that you are.intrigued by something ..... using caged ( and unfortunately not a dictionary ) I though I could get that doublemeaning in "An English" .... Maybe it is a good thing that my profession isn't a translator of books
Are any of your courses situated in Kansas BTW ???

Well, I'm setting you free from your enthralment, Ola. 12 days after your last post on S&T, which is an absolute disgrace (Am I the only one sharing updates and nuggets of wisdom about CF around here?), the Peacemaker has undergone a full makeover.
Same course with the same hole layout, but different colour scheme and completely new height map. I still do not know what happened exactly, but somehow I've started hating the previous concept after several unsuccessful rounds of beautification attempts and some Speedtree-induced vegetation disenchantment. Anyway, I finally decided there was no point smearing even more lipstick on a pig and so I went and slaughtered the pig instead, strangled a dozen kitten just for good measure and engaged into a massive rebuild.
It's still called "The Peacemaker", mind you. That name is just too good to give up on.

I think that as good a premise as the original design was, the new updated version, to me, looks a much better prospect.
I am an old fashion type of human- I like for a golf course to look like a golf course- if you know what I mean- and am getting memories of a few Portuguese courses I played back in the day when I was young, single and single figure
Looking forward to the inevitable updates K11 and carry on!

I am not thrilled by your implication that the previous version looked less like a golf course, though I will defend with my life your right to say so. I guess. Or not, whatever. Tastes do differ, but thank you ever so much for reminding me that the outrageousness factor on this latest version still is sorely low - I will have to up the crazy as a consequence.
The inevitable updates will be highly evitable - I need that Speedtree coupon same as everybody else to start with the planting. My own attempts at creating new Speedtrees models with new materials and new textures from scratch were definitely not up to par - and I blame Speedtree and its pisspoor modelling product for this failure. So we wait.

K11
I was not inferring that the previous design looked either wrong or bad or anything as I know you do like to push the envelope regarding your designs. That is a fantastic trait and wholeheartedly applauded as that is what drives imagination and new design processes.
All I was saying is that I am the old, boring git here who prefers seeing courses that look as if they could be from the real world rather than ones that are very unlikely to be possible in current times.
For example- I have all of your courses so far to date and play them on a regular basis when I have the time to do so but for me, I will continue to play Willow Heath ad infinitum as it reminds me of a number of heathland courses in and around the South East belt of the UK where as a nipper I learned to hit balls with my bats and get round a course under 80 on most decent days.
I for one would never infer you of how to design your courses as I have no idea how, why and where you get both of your inspiration and the techniques required to do so.
Anyway, enough sucking up for now- I'm away to make me some proper suet dumplings for my tea!

And to think that never in my life I travelled near that particular corner of your UK... I modelled the Heath after a rather generic foreigners prejudice on what might be quintessential englishness based on as authoritative sources as Midsomer Murders. Pity you old git had to go and narrow "the real world" down to your own neck of the woods. Greetings from the fake world, we sure would love to be in your place.
Just teasing... there indeed is something universally endearing about old english country and parkland courses. Even to lowly contintental crud like me they do feel more golfy than any other legitimate golf courses. No need to suck up any further, just trying to push this stuttering thread into the 3K zone after a lengthy period of inactivity. Let's you and me at least agree that American-style resort and TPC courses are a bit of an eyesore, a pointless study in fake landscaping and not necessarily something the world needs more of - although, so help me, these atrocities keep popping up all over the place even here in the Old World. (Now that ought to increase the traffic around here)

Would love to build lots of english country and parkland courses, instead of American-style resort and TPC courses. If CF is ever released to us mere mortals

Stephen, there's a "soon" and an "open beta" thread for this line of thought. I'm very sorry for your situation, but we'll get there when we get there and that is that.
