Nah, I just needed high walls to best block off the surrounding environment. I felt lazy about creating one. Also, sensory deprivation, a classic prison theme, should help players to focus on their putts. They will need to do that. And finally, the many straight horizontal and vertical lines of the walls, turrets, fence poles and buildings all should act as a visual help to see the slopes of the terrain and develop a spacial understanding of them.
So, you see, there is a method behind my design choices. Not much of a method, but still...
