I confess I no nothing of Terrain Forge,

one of the testers was kind enough

to convert Keeowee for me. The four

Cliffs courses are very private and 

I doubt a hick like me would get past

the front gate, although I have seen

all four from Lake Keeowee which is

very deep and practically clear. Keeowee

is a man-made lake with only 300 miles

of shoreline that serve the Oconee

Nuclear Station nearby.

Thought I'd try my hand at a real venue.
Located just 20 miles from home,
The Cliffs at Keeowee Vineyards.
A Tom Fazio design with 8 holes right
on Lake Keeowee. There are four courses
on the lake, Mountain Park, by Gary Player,
Glassy by Tom Jackson, Keeowee Falls
by, Jack Nicklaus, all with gorgeous mountain views
and lots of water.
I'm starting with the Fazio because I just love
the signature 250y Par 3, from the black.

That's a beautiful area! I lived in Greenville, SC for a bit and did a lot of camping up on Jocassee.

look suspiciously like Spacely Sprockets or

Cogswell Cogs.

Keeowee Lake added, with so many trees

the MJwater reflections should work

nicely with this one. Most holes forged in,

trees are just place holders, and the textures will

be changed.

Ah, yes... the enticing and sensual "New Car Smell" of starting a new course project, when the vision is pristine and the possibilities boundless... lasts a few minutes before the first compromises need to be made and new ideas begin their assault.

 

 

 

Funny thing about that planet in the background... it will only work properly at Dynamic Sky off. Those of you leaving it on will see bands of clouds reaching behind it, resulting in a totally weird scaling contradiction, and also have the sun in an altogether wrong place. Meh, can't be helped. That'll teach them to challenge the designer's atmospheric supremacy.

Yes, Ola. They should. And what follows will certainly alienate the many stern realism-worshippers even more.

 

Just the 2 meshes so far, but more than 4 hours of work encapsulated in them. Fairway is mauve, green is light blue, both are a bit psychedelic, which is due to the special light refraction on Xaxnax Minor. There will be free photon-recalibrating goggles at the club-house.

Behold the 1st hole, par 4, 375y: Two fairways to play at from the tee, depending on the pin position. Both generous, this will not be a brutal course once you manage to see past the LSD-trippy design.

 

 

I might still change things, I always do, but this is my starting setup. If you look closely enough, you will find out that this is not grass on the fairways, but synthetic fibre that will play exactly like grass except for a faint lavender smell. We had to do this to stop the native animals from stomping onto the grounds and eating up the entire course . And cue the stupid Tara comments...

 

 

Thing is, the poor dear did not need to dress up like that for our first course building session - it's just her not-so-subtle way of driving home her current pet notion that the local groove should be one of Retro Sci-Fi, in the vein of Barbarella or Flash Gordon. Or, as she put it to me: "We should make it a bit, like, julesverney or something." To which I answered I mainly wanted it to be a lot k11-ey. Which made her laugh, albeit not in a merry way, but rather in a pitifully deriding fashion.

Will we be able to tool around on hover-carts? No cartpaths needed.

is totally not into the whole space thing. Kinda like

Oh, it'll get a lot worse, humanoid... Nothing is being touted, except perhaps the complete and total dismissal of the colour green and any of it's shades. The sky already has been de-greened, btw...

And to think that I still feel that all those oh-so-fanciful jokers who ordered red cloth for their pool tables were a bit tacky...
