I would respectfully disagree with you.  This is every bit a social game as much as those are social games.

I guess in that aspect sure, mostly all online games are social..  but even then, PG is sort of both.. as I previously mentioned, not everybody is into online play, tournaments, joining club houses, etc.. some just want to fire the game up and have a go at it, either by themselves or using the AI.  The games you mentioned I believe are strictly online only with no single player choices..

I once started a thread entitled 'Is PG only for the Connoisseur' or something like that. Some of you may remember it.

Mike replied to that thread saying, 'If that is the case then PP will failed miserably.'

Well IMO the answer is yes, it is and if the game continues on it's current path, yes, it will.

As Spock would've said. 'The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few.'

Time for a rethink IMO.

But to charge a monthly fee to play user designed courses, and worst of all to PLAY TEST YOUR OWN COURSE DESIGN, is ridiculous.

I agree this is a bit harsh at first sight. But to exclusively build courses and then test them - without playing anything else ever - strike me as bit outlandish. And the moment you want to do anything else, take part in a tourney, play against friends online or play on other courses, you pay for it with the same price and can't ask for designer exemption any more. Your concerns would only apply if you never did that.

The seasons pass, to me, is not meant to be a payment for anything. It's a license fee renewal that will give you access to EVERYTHING - the same thing you may have decided to pay every month for your tv or your cable tv. Or for your internet access. Only that in this case it funds the long-term game development and continuous upgrades of the released game. The season pass is not a payment dedicated to anything, it's a universal flat rate for everything.

May you find enjoyment and satisfaction, no matter which golf game you choose.

You may have to sign on the main page with your PP site access info first. Also, it wasn't exactly presented, it was either found or leaked - and it's not 100% official yet.

I want more guys playing the game - PP wants revenue. Maybe we can achieve both with the season pass. I certainly hope so.

But without user courses and a real offline mode, i think the game has not enough to offer for offline guys to pay first the price of the release version and on top 60 bucks for the courses. We'll see.

If it would be possible to divide the payment for courses (strictly DLC) and the payment for the rest of the season pass i would have much more confidence in PG being a success (sold units).

I have no problem paying $4.99 per month. I would like to know though what I would get for that fee. will it be the same amount of content every month?  Is it just a fee to play every month? will there be other fees for extras?  If I don't pay the $$$ per month will I still get updates for the base game?  Will I still be able to play the base game if I don't pay the $$$ per month?

There are no fees to play PerfectGolf once you have purchased it. The game will continue to be developed and periodic updates will be available FOC for the base game much like they are now.

The season pass is extra functionality and content over and above what is available for the base game.

So how do the course designers notify all PG game owners that their course is available. Surely this is going to fracture access to courses so much that only a few will ever get to know about them ?

I don't see any courses on my hard drive. Whereabouts would I find them ?

Here is the path if you use the steam install and don't change the path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Perfect Golf\Courses

Hope you find your courses there :)

Who cares...

Uh, those are not golf games... that is not an apples to apples comparison..

FYI...WOW (World of Warcraft) can be free-to-play by doing quests, missions, etc. and using ingame currency (gold) to buy subscription tokens.  I play everyday and have not paid a single cent in months.

It could be possible to have a similar "plan" that season pass subscriptions could be earned...like the more you play the more "credits" you earn towards the season pass.

Just Saying.....

I might be able to offer up OGT as a central location for uploads and downloads of the latest versions of user created courses.  Can also allow players to rate courses.

That's a great offer thanks. I hope it comes about. There can't be any future in designers scattering courses here, there and everwhere.

That is a very generous offer. I imagine that storage space can be very pricey.

What we must remember, is the files we create using the CF, are not ours. Therefore there is an ownership control by PP which can aid in revenue.

Sorry but this cannot be right. Anyone who creates a unique work be it artistic or otherwise (and I believe a cybergolf course IS a work of art) then that person certainly holds the copyright to that work. Mike has already said that designers can publish their work anywhere they please which implies that PG has no control over the publication and distribution of courses. And that's how it should be.

If any monthly or annual subscription includes permission to use CF in the creation process then that is PG's reward in itself.

Yes... I think you would have to play games in offline mode in Steam.

Hi Clubcaptain

You used to be able to play offline  about 3 updates or so ago by going offline in steam then loading up Perfect Golf.

Now however  PG needs to check if you have a season pass ( all EA subscribers have a  temporary one) so you must be online in steam so that can be checked, thus an internet connection is needed.

Sorry I  dont know if they will be allowing offline play in the future, guess it depends on how the pass situation unfolds.

Well, I play WOW solo all the time, actually. I very rarely choose to interact with anyone else. It's actually a great solo game too! :)

You can play PG while disconnected from the internet, but there were some camera bugs in that mode that may not have been corrected as yet as the majority of players are connected to the net even when playing solo.  However, I think in offline play you may only be able to play the courses included with the game since you can't connect to Steam.

I don't think there is an offline mode at the mo.

Not sure where you got you original quote from but of course we do not own any courses created by the community with CourseForge. There is a license agreement with CourseForge though which means third party content created with is can't be sold without our permission.

We have no plans to charge for user made courses but a season pass unlocks a feature in PerfectGolf in a way that allows them to be played in the game. This is entirely different than selling them which we have no desire to do.
