After many rounds of new update a few edited thoughts.

Drives: Not much to say, seem normal.  Snap tends to sway more if missed on wind side but can be corrected by purposely missing snap opposite the wind.

Approach shots:  Pretty decent roll out and physics look right on long irons and hybrids.  3 Wd sticks a bit much but guess that might be a green setting as I test on Normal hardness, 10 stimp.

Most wedges and 9 iron sometimes in this range can create an overspin.  Looks so unnatural that the camera cant even keep up with it.  Seen it on alot of shots and cant tell what causes it as it happens on upslope and downslope landing.  Even side slope at times.

Chipping:  Actually think 64W plays chips pretty accurately as I look closely and relearn the shot.  But 60W a bit accelerated on landing and 56W+ chips take off like they have legs on landing.  Very unnatural looking.

Pitching:  Noticing these grab pretty tight on landing, seems like a very soft landing unless you club up.  Havent noticed anything weird yet but havent tried all pitches.

Flops:  Havent tried enough to list much yet.

Putting:  I really like the freedom of the putting speed.  With the accelerated putting kind of off, it seems to break very hard at your feet and stimp even at 10 pulls it hard off the putter blade.  But very learnable and consistant which is helpful.  Hole seems to suck more (in a good way  :).  Some pins that are on downslopes a soft putt will actually stop, unlike before.  But noticed strange occurances putting up steep hills.  If you putt up a steep hill and miss it can actually roll back to your feet, which didnt happen before in same spots.

Meter seems to be no issue reading and the slower speed on putts inside 6 feet helps.  Still think it might not be long enough but havent had a putt over the max yet.

Putting from fairway will travel 17 feet of fw max at full meter.  If it doesnt reach the green by then it will stop short of green.  Hope this changes in higher stimps as St Andrews might be around the corner.

Random issues:  Pin can pinball a ball 20-30 feet if you hit it with a short chip, even at slow speed.  A bit frustrating, but nice to have a pin i guess.

Trees are back for revenge.  Noticed if you touch a tree or even a tip of a tree it just about stops the ball and floats to its base.  Thought trees were 80% air, but I guess after several months of 99% air they owe us a lashing.

All and all, I would enjoy this update a ton if excessive spin and chip acceleration were fixed in next patch or sooner.  Graphics great.

Note: Stimp 11 and 12 roll until you hit back rough unless you land upslope.  Chip, Pitch, partial shots almost unusable unless really close to the hole.  It is TOUGH.  Add high wind and throw away your mindset of shooting under par.

Played pretty nice here, a welcome update.

Of course its still early access, different peoples machines mean different things will go wrong.  I played 2 ....9 holers after goin solo game with mullies--to re-guage -feel the dist on chipping/putting.

Although I love the look and the putting of the new update. Amazing upgrades on those 2 things. I gotta admit the physics are brutal.
Really to the point of cant believe this was tested and approved. Or who is testing this? The spin is overdramatized on alot of shots. The chipping accelerates on landing even up steep hills.
Hoping others are seeing this and its not just me and anyone else I play with. Hopefully fixed soon.

I have to agree, the ball physics on the chipping look strange to my eye too.
Generally the new lighting and graphics look great but at other times look a little dark. Edit: I've just seen a mention
of 'adaptive lighting' in the release notes. This might help with the above issue.
The reverse and follow ball cams stopped working during one of my rounds.
The ball trail looks fantastic now and gives a nice blurring effect just as the ball leaves the club face.

The client machine has nothing to do with the shot physics.  There are some major holes in the new update with chipping and approach with wedges.  New distances is no big deal, clearly marked but in real life you can not hit a 50% 64W chip and see it roll up a 6 foot hill 60 feet past a hole that was 30 feet away.  Stimp is a bit high as well on 10.  Havent tried higher yet but gotta imagine its crazy.

Ya, just give solo play a go with mullies and practice.....and hopefully most of yours/others issues will get worked out.  Early PG access will shine, I know they will, this update and their every day access for questions is great.  :D

well - over all I like--but for sure need some adjustment at least in motion swing - cant speak for swing meter guys---was getten hugh roll backs when hitten from rough to green ---didn't know that was possible ---and wud be nice if cud set club motion when pulling back to swing so cud see club draw back when swinging--wud make easier to judge the distance you putting-all else is looking good on my screen

Ok first off thanks to all the hard work by the devs.  Unfortunately for me the game became almost unplayable with all the new emersive trees. I have replaced on board gpu with a gtx9800+ i have it set to performance. b4 the update i was playing on mediunm to low settings on  native resolution and was getting  fps any where from 20 to 40 based on course,  even with the new option turned on to assist during swing the game is unplayble on those settings. just to get a smooth meter i have to turn it on, and set everythin on low and change resolution to 800x600. I understand the need for emersive graphics but this game will never catch on if you need a supercomputer to play. the average joe will not pay even the 20 buck ea fee to play under these conditions.....My question to the devs is there any thing else youy can do to make the average guy be able to play on low settings......

What are your computer specs?  That card doesnt even have a gig of ram on it.

GTX 9800 is about 8 years old now.  It's just not going to cut it any more.  Unfortunately if it's AGP, that was the last card to support that slot so you can't really upgrade without getting a whole new PC.

But I wanted to ask:  is there something that can be done to uncouple the swing meter frame rate so it can be extra smooth?  Freezing rendering while swinging, maybe?  This would make a big difference on computers where the frame rate is not high enough to get good swing fidelity, and possibly bring it from 'unplayable' to 'playable'.  If the swing is smooth, a choppy frame rate afterwards is not such a critical problem.

Yea, there is a new option in-game under game settings: Lower Quality on Swing, turn it on. Have you tried this?

it is on by default. So if he didn't change it there is no way now to help him on that.

Game runs smooth as on my pc

Love this update, like the putting updates too, much more realistic now, and slower swing speed at short putts,  chipping changed but will  adjust with practice.

well done mike , andrew and team

Thank you very much-

Whenever I turn it on the shadows pop on during swing making it impossible to swing in the swingmeter....way to jittery then.

Wanted to see the new changes (I like 'em, too) and noticed what may be a bug (sorry if it is posted elsewhere). I was putting from about 1 ft on #3 CP and the ball kinda hit hole and hopped backwards. Then I was equipped w/ the driver for some reason. I changed to putter, and it did same thing. I then noticed the mini-map was showing my ball on the tee box, and no matter what I did, the putt would not go in. Also, it showed no shots taken. here is a screenshot.

Was I on the wrong hole? Geez, I didn't think I hit that bad, if I am :-(

If you are already on low settings, the lower settings option while swinging will not help.

LOL, I do think that you were on the wrong hole. The reason I'm laughing is that I had that happen to me once during testing and was appropriately harassed by my fellow testers.

I haven't played the update yet, but is it possible they've made blading a shot possible?

lol...Brilliant...a frame rate of about 2 per second...and a lag in the meter of almost a full second.....awesome update....I think the impossible is happening..wgt is looking efficient
