As opposed to having our golf game get abandoned, like here, I'll take it
Seriously -- this exact complaining attitude about having to "pay money" is precisely why we are here on a dead forum and some of us are still playing a never again to be updated or touched abandoned piece of software.

Who's complaining? I'm making a statement based on past track records of buying EA games... have at it.

I was only against subscription because I thought DLC was an option. If they'd said it's subscription vs. abandonment I would've been the first to sign up.

Looks fantastic but unfortunately without a course creator it's Rory all over again. That course creator is essential and EA makes their money on selling courses not giving the customer the ability to make their own. Thank but no thanks as over a period of time playing the same 20 something courses doesn't do it for me. Again it looks nice but not for me.
Exactly what I was getting at Greens... EA has been like this forever, but gamers still buy into the shiny new vehicle, only different color.. It does look amazing, no denying that, but when they are in complete control and all you have is the $70-100 based game, that turns into a few more hundred with buying courses, cloths, clubs, balls... nutsso!

Say what you want, PG is the best bang for my buck $20 golf game I ever bought. I still bust out the Links2k3 exe occasionally too.

The overall great news, to me, is that we have multiple golf games getting made again!
Between the new EA game and the ongoing HB/2K efforts, it seems like everyone is going to find something they like
..and with both being on PC - wow
I've loved PG, but I'll be surprised if I ever fire it up again by next Summer
The end could be near (for me anyhow)

Really pleased to hear that EA's game will be available for the PC. Even if the game turned out to be the greatest ever, I simply wasn't going to purchase a console to play it.
As for whether or not it has a course designer, well, no one likes to have to put out a lot extra for new content. However, that's the way it was for years with Links and new courses until they finally relented and put out the APCD, although new versions of the game usually had some new course additions plus older courses could usually be converted for the newest version, so over time available courses grew and grew. The designer was very difficult to use for the average user, but as we all know in the hands of those who had a knack for it and learned it's ins and outs it was a great addition for Links and kept the game alive for years. Still is, as a matter of fact, just behind the curve in relation to what today's games can be in terms of graphics. As for myself, if the new game from EA doesn't have a course designer at launch or later, but high quality course packs at a reasonable price are provided from time to time I would be OK with that. Key being "reasonable price". This does of course assume that the new game is a great golf game. From the looks of the short trailer, the courses are going to look pretty good.
I'm on the fence right now on the new 2K23 game. I like the new animations, especially the short game improvement, and the 3 click addition. From videos I've seen I would need to find the difficulty setting that would allow me to handle the 3 click sequence, it looks pretty quick! I'll follow its development for the next month or so and watch more videos on gameplay, and may get it at a discount at some point to have some fun with. I'm strictly a single player so all of the multiplayer and season play aspects of the game mean nothing to me. If I can play good courses with single rounds and enjoy the play and graphics, then I would be getting my money's worth out of the game all winter while waiting to see how the EA offering turns out.
I'm afraid PG has run its course for me. I have really enjoyed it and wish its development had continued, but it wasn't to be. Time to move on.

That is good news because 2K23 is just as awful as all their previous ones. Very impressed with the look of the graphics in the teaser and hope you can remove the galleries as I have yet to see one that looks decent. In my opinion, PG even in it's present state is still the best golf game put out mainly because RTSM is head and shoulders above anything I have used in any golf game. I will be very interested in seeing what the PC control method in EA Sports is. Regardless, competition is always good.
RTSM - Pro
