I have it on good authority that the game is a step up from TGC 2019, feels different from the others but it is not perfect in every facet. There is no tempo on backswing, only downswing, and it appears difficult to pinpoint where you go wrong if you hit many fasts or slows. The game has a swing calibrator where you hit 10 drives and the game then tunes your swing to your style, i'm told that this does not seem to translate that well once you start playing in earnest ( much scratching of heads its seems )
Options to tailor your experience are really good, you can turn off or on a multitude of aids, and it appears they have copied PG by including many difficulty levels ( 5 or 6 i think ) this is pretty good imo and much needed. There is a legend difficulty that is near impossible i'm told none of the early players have cracked par apparently and i know that 2 of them are very good players from 2019.
At last you can actually spin the ball back too in this version, game has loft and angle of attack to generate spin, nice addition and about time.
looks promising it has to be said and i do like the career mode presentation, apparently it is no longer a tacked on mode, it has had plenty of love.

Crazy Canuck has beat par on Legends in one of his videos and he was the first. HB_Craig was also watching his stream when he did. Gave him props and made them eat crow. Does look hard though which is nice.

At my current skill level with TGC2019 I’ll be lucky to break par on Pro difficulty level in PGA TOUR 2K21. ;(

I have been playing Masters ever since I bought the game, not to hard but I can't usually go to low like those TGCTour players and probably there hacked xbox controllers. I'll be happy knowing I can shoot ever so slightly under par and I play fair. To be honest I don't think these players that can shoot very low every round are playing fair that or they play the easiest levels.

Still no customization in the designer which is disappointing, but at least there are more options this time. There's now 32 textures of each type instead of 16, and all the plants and trees are now global and not dependent on a theme. It also has some nice looking 3D grass. I think it is definitely going to be an improvement.

That's a pretty big deal, yeah? (not being tied all to one theme and now can mix/match)

Hey gents... been a long time. Hope everyone is well in this world of COVID.
I've been dropping by the forumson occasion over the months to see what is going on. Have to admit that whilst I tried to get back in to PP over on PGLS, the game just didn't pull me back in like I'd hoped and I don't touch the game anymore, with majority of my gaming now on my PS4.
Seeing this thread had been going and as we near the launch proper of PGA 2K21 quite a number of well known TGC streamers have had access to the press beat build and have been pushing out videos galore.
The feedback from the likes of CrazyCanuck, Respawn, JimGem and ApexHound has all been really positive, with a few niggles here and there (some might see that as bias towards HBS and that these streamers are only going to paint the game in a positive light) but it does look a step up from the last entry in the series and the new swing options look really interesting, especially with the optional power meter helping folks get accustomed to the game and allowing the die-hard's to turn it off completely.
Here's one from Respawn that gives a good look at the new swing mechanics and how the new swing difficulties play and how they compare to the previous TGC game.
