Greens, you know you can choose the conditions you play in, if the lighting is a bit dark or that sun a bit low,  just play clear midday or something.  I assume you know this, just checking.

I always like to play them the way they are setup first then change it around. JCat is on Digital Sports Page and plays both Xbox and PC. The PC society is under Digital Sports and pretty good Society if you looking for another to play. I don't Bother with Official 2K21 anymore as the beginners are shooting 20 under every round.

Here are some comparison shots between my 2019 courses and my 2k21 ports so you can see the differences. I think it's massive.

Thanks for sharing the comparison shots Matt... there is quite an improvement in graphic quality, and while not perfect bunker lips are much better. Lighting has improved also, I am an early afternoon guy myself. Never cared for early morning rounds with the sun in your eyes or slogging through wet grass and dew.  :P

The trouble with a midday sun in TGC is that it makes the bunkers look much more flat, especially in previous versions, and they were bad enough already, not one designer ever would go midday, might be worth a look now though, although its all changeable so makes no difference really.

Regarding PG being getting boring, I never found it so. I play PG as I play real golf, against the course. I found that playing on all the tee and pin positions keeps courses fresh and I especially enjoyed playing from the front/ladies tees as it makes some of the greens drivable, making it very much risk and reward.

The TGC designer can be limiting in that regard; you can't randomly move tees and you only get four pins. That can be a little frustrating.

I don't use midday sun but I like something with a few shadows like late morning or mid-afternoon. I hate looking right into the 5 pm sun and it seems like 90 percent of user courses do this. I also generally have a little bit of cloud cover to just temper the brightness somewhat.

One disappointing aspect of PG is the inability to add custom club distances to your individual player, so an individual can play courses from tees as they would in real life and play as they actually would. I miss this option the most from my Links 2003 days.

Totally agree..

I really wish PG could be opened up and modded a bit if it truly is end of life and never again to be touched.

Maybe there's hope of that down the road with Trackman already on v2 and ultimately moving further and further onward from this older code/software (PG1)?

I would love to have access to modify/tweak/add-to the visual assets (clothing/gear) also.

Without physical copies it will never be modded. Sad but just the truth.

Why?

Also - to be clear - I was being hopeful about someone like Mike/Andrew being allowed/able to open it up down the road.

As we've seen - there is someone still here when there needs to be to tweak/change anything (licensing stuff so far).

Just thought I would make a couple comments in regards to PGA 2k21. I have looked at everything that was available on the net about this release and my honest opinion is that this was an honest attempt by the developers to present a realistic product to cyber golf enthusuiasts. I was sure there would not be and of course there is not a CA allowing custom courses to be created within the game. The stock courses featured are better than average but not exactly jaw dropping .I prefer the computer version with mouse option. I never have liked game pads as they relate to golf sims.  The Deluxe Edition of this Sim is $10.00 more than the Regular one on Amazon. All they give you for the 10 spot is  a couple of eye candy add ons.  This Deluxe Edition is the direct computer download Sim. Price wise a little high but not outrageous. I sworre that after EA Sports little stunt of removing the CA from the TW franchise in 07, that I would never buy another golf sim that did not allow custom creations. I was never again going to be at the mercy of a franchise that forces you to endlessly buy their stock course crap. If I am able to find this game a few months down the road for thirty or fourty bucks, I might consider purchasing it only for a change of scenery. If not, it is not the end of the world for me.

There most certainly is a course creator. Albeit your stuck with the textures they give you in-game.

Typing "PGA2k21 course architect" in Google immediately comes up with pages of links and videos on its course designer.

Because there is no way for any of us to go into the programing and mod it you need a hard copy to do that as that is how Links 2003 and all the others were done. It's been discussed many times and that is one reason some ames don't have hard copies as they don't want the community to mod it. It's time to face the fact this game is what it is and will never go any further and if you don't believe what I am saying ask a computer programmer as no code no getting into game.

Luckily PG is still great for my needs as is

Still hopeful - never know...The future can be very unpredictable.

As creating courses with a PS4 or Xbox controller is quite tricky, I think it would be a nice idea for the developers to allow a free PC download of the Course Architect for people who bought the game on console, only allowing playtesting of the course.

I don’t understand why a hard copy is needed to mod a game? Call of Duty Warzone, And Fortnite are two huge games that are digital only and they ban users regularly for using hacks. The hacks are not separate from the game. They are files that are extracted and rewritten, coded whatever you want to call it and put back into the game.

The game can be modified. Everyone has the .dll files requiring modification on your PC now. No different than Tamuchan has done with his patch. I imagine changing certain things would be more complicated than others. Changing a shader, probably easier than changing the physics.

So the I ask can we change club distances or the Avatar and cloths he wears or clubs he uses? Can we add crowds or even a career mode. Links did all that except the career mode as it was already there.

Source code. You need that. It's compiled to create the dlls and exe.

And don't forget the lawyer. You'll need one if the IP doesn't belong to you and the owner wants to sue.
