Also to anyone installing this game on a machine with a good or very good video card, manually adjust the Quality Slider to best visual quality. The rest of the qualtiy settings are personal choices. I like the grass to be at low quality for better viewing. I don't like the sun glare or blooming so they are both turned off.

The Shader Level must be turned Off or no more than Low. This should result in reflective water.

I never tried Tiger Woods 08 on the PC. I stopped at 06 with the PC version. I had become more taken with thumbstick control golf games on the XBox 360 by the time TW 07 & 08 came out and never gave it a try. There's a sequence in Lee's video where he shows a low angle, behind the golf view, cutting to a reverse angle landing view, and then back to a sort of forward landing view. I don't recall there being manual camera controls in 06. My question is, was is possible to set like a chest high rear view of the golfer and then have a reverse angle landing view occur at like 60 to 80% of the ball's travel? Was there any sort of "on the fly" camera control in TW 08 during the live shot?
Finally, I seem to recall that EA was trying to incorporate thumbstick control into TW 06. I tried it and it was poorly implemented, and I'm sure it would have turned anyone else off to thumbstick control if they'd never tried it on say Links 2004 on the XBox, or Tiger Woods 07, and on, on the XBox 360 or PS3. Was there a thumbstick control option in TW 08, and if so, how would it compare to say the thumbstick control swing of JNPG?

There is a game pad swing for 08 yes, sadly my wireless 360 and wireless xbox one pad are not being detected by the game, so i have no idea what its like. The mouse swing is very much like pga 2000 and its good, the caveat being im finding it hard to get a setting i like with my razer mouse for short chips and putts. Game play wise 08 is a treat and the 13 year old graphics hold up pretty well, this is where PGA 2000 becomes a no no for me as the graphics are just too poor.

That list of camera controls is very impressive DoGgs! I may have to see if I can't buy a copy of this somewhere. There still seems to be a lot of demand for it for a game that's 12 years old

These are the messages I get when I try and open the game none of the fixes that are posted on the forums are working which makes me think I have a totally different problem or don't understand or doing something wrong or all of the above...

You need the the dg voodoo graphics pack
https://www.play-old...oodoo-tutorial/
This page contains a link to the voodoo download page and instructions, before you grab the voodoo file turn off your antivirus as it will think its a potentially harmful file..it's not. Also the voodoo page may be flagged as dangerous in chrome, again its not, just use firefox instead. You may not think all this is worth it, its up to you at the end of the day, only way to get it running i'm afraid. I can at least vouch for the download, it works perfect with no security issues..good luck!
as for the game, if you liked the mouse swing in PGA 2000 you will like this, really good! plenty of scope for partial hits with all shot types and clubs, puts newer titles to shame.

Thanks Dogs but did all that even tried it again from your web link and still same message. Sucks because I played it for several years when originally came out even after EA online shut their severs down thru hamachi, But guess it's a no go for some reason for me..

Did you drag all the DLL files from the glide and direct x folders in voodoo? you do this inside the games bin directory, the error messages you initially posted were exactly the same as mine, it will work!

Compatibility Mode must be set to Vista SP2 and "run as administrator" for TW08 and the apps needed to install the game.
Edited: I removed the video due to several steps not being included. There is now plenty of information in this topic for intermediate to advanced level tech-heads to get this game running on their W10 PC.

I found and downloaded the demo of Tiger Woods 08 PC, but I get the same error screens that HeNs listed when I try to run it, even in compatibility mode. I'll see if I can get it to work with dg voodoo graphics pack.
UPDATE: I shut down Chrome's safe mode and was able to download the dg voodoo pack. It took me a while to figure out which files go in which directory, but I finally got it and it worked beautifully.
The demo was unfortunately limited to two or three holes, and doesn't allow the player any control over graphics resolution or settings, camera presentation options, or difficulty levels. It's locked at 800 x 600 with scaled back water surface settings that look like something out of the 8-bit era.
In spite of all that, I was VERY impressed with the way TW 08's Tru-Swing felt with the mouse, compared to what I recall from playing TW 06 on the PC, like 13 years ago now It had a very fluid, responsive feel! I love the way the golfer animation responded with no delay and with a smooth animation to my mouse strokes! I could tell I was playing on a super easy level, but I was still digging the organic feel of it.
I liked some of the presentation camera angles it was throwing in there and would love to have access to all the camera controls that DoGgs listed earlier in this thread, but I'll have to find a way to buy the full version that have access to that. Now I'm really curious to see what this game looks and plays like in 4K, or at least 1080p with the graphics details ratcheted up. I can't believe how excited I am by this crippled, 12 year old demo right now!
DOH, I didn't see Lee's guide until AFTER I'd slogged through it on my own... oh well, I got there

Jcat you can download the full game for free just google it, tiger 08 is basically abandonware now, all you then need do is mount the image with something like daemon tools lite then grab a no cd patch also found via google search, i did this for a friend of mine now we just need to figure out how to play online together. Or you can just get it on amazon for 5-15 dollars roughly.
