Thank you for the updated courses. I was waiting for Valhalla. I've made this course for two other golf sims. So I have a pretty good idea on how accuate it came out. I thought the first version was pretty well done. I'll give this version a play and let you know my thoughts. I'm sure it was worth the wait.

Valhalla looks incredible...the colors all blend perfect and the 3d grass looks amazing. I don't think you can get it anymore realistic looking. Merry Christmas to you, too!

great work on these courses skunky thanks much for the posting of them here on

Christmas. starting to think the designer community has took a break and just wondering if others will do more

courses or is the bringing out of new courses over?

Dave, Skunky is a beast. Only he and DogGs have the skillset to churn out courses like a batch of cookies.

To produce decent courses on a regular basis, I would guess you need a minimum of 2-4 free hours a day for at least a month. I think that's why you see designers come and go. It would be cool to see how much time in it takes Skunky to produce his typical course.

He has also gone back and improved every one of his designs over the years. It takes exceptional commitment and most of all, free time.

I've seen posts by RobC, Tekbud, jspirate and BadEddieKit to suggest a few courses are being built.

Doggs was making Brookline, haven't seen an update in a while.

As for the updated Skunky courses, I now believe in the power of the pano.

It is like a shock to fire up one of Skunkys updates after playing an early course hosted in mp or by pgls. Not because they are bad but most of them just had similar looking textures, stock trees and a clubhouse.

Now they feature a photo panorama, 3D grass, more vibrant textures, new fitting trees, lots of small objects and attention to detail. The playability is naturally what makes a course meaningful to play, but all these things add to the atmosphere and lifts the plying experience several levels for me.

No groundbreaking thoughts here, but I felt I wanted to express my gratitude to the designers bringing this game forward although they get fewer.

Looking at the comparison photo I included below, you can see that the mountain behind the course is not visible from this angle.  In game, the panoramic mountain sits much higher in the background.  There are loads of Valhalla hole-by-hole flyovers and tournament coverage on youtube that would give you a better idea of how the mountain is situated in the background.

Just something to possibly look into if you make any other changes to this course in the future.  Thanks again for sharing your superb designs!

I should be back in the fold soon. My stuff from the states is arriving next week and I'm now settled into my rental house, so I'm ready to get started working again. All I have is a Mac right now which I assume is okay (?); I've never tried to run it on that.

I have plans to eventually add 3dg updates to most of my courses, or at least the better ones to start with, like Pebble, Spyglass, etc - timelines are going to be pretty vague on those for now, unfortunately.

Time is definitely one reason why designers come and go. I am back after a second hiatus. I'm lucky if I can get 30 minutes a day. Not conducive to high-quality output! I love it though, and hopefully one day I can release one or both of the two courses I'm working on.

THE designer's (no matter who they are) MUST (MUST) not put pins RIGHT AT A SLOPE, you must NOT put easy pins right at the front of the green, Medium pins right in the middle of the green and HARD pins right inthe back on the green. Do you know what easy, medium and hard means? I could put an easy pin at the back edge of a green that would be easier than a hard pin right in front tucked behind a bunker. Please, PLEASE take more care into placing your pins.

I am not naming no one, please just use common sense when designing and please test, TEST you're course/courses. I tested mine at least 50 times. Yes I realize my textures sucked but my pins were good!!

I am not too fond of the concept with easy, medium and hard pins. It is more fun playing a round when the pins are mixed up from easy to hard on all settings, they should have a number or a name of the day or something instead of being called easy medium hard.

The Sunday pins could have several more difficult pin settings than Thursday, but if all pins on hard settiings are placed right behind a bunker or near heavy slopes the playing becomes a pain.

You're probably well aware of it, but if you use "dynamic" sky, it looks more natural. I guess it just depends on how much the "pano" bugs you.  :D

SO its that time of year again we all think of the masters, even though its not happinging, next month,i cant help but think about it this time of year,i allways get excited to watch and play ,so ive been home quarantined for the last 2 weeks and decided to see if there was anything i could do to the course.heres what ive done

took overhead into photoshop and refined a little, was able to make the course look alot smoother and less blotchy.and was able to shave off 60 megs in the process. improving FPS

also removed  overlay on  all the tee boxes and greens ,to give a more consistant look.

redid water, just becase i didnt like what it looked like before

and also worked on the 3d grass

also moved a couple of unfair pins, even though they were from the previous years masters, just didnt work in this game.

im happy with the result and hope you enjoy your own private masters.

dave ,feel free to post at PGLS.

Oh my! Great news Quade! Thanx for still tweaking your already beautiful courses. And THIS ONE is especially impressive! Will give it a go (although playing under par on Augusta is mostly whishful thinking for me ^_^).
