I am skeptical that user designed courses will be a part

of PG2 now that TM is in the equation. My thought is that

TM will charge for PG2 with minimal courses, and then

have DLC for any others with no user input.

I certainly hope I'm wrong on the designer side of my statement.

I hope you're wrong too. This would be a deal breaker for me. I lost interest in TW's releases as soon as they dropped the designer.

Appreciate Andrew's post (hardly an update as it doesn't really tell us anything different to the one from months back) just that work still continues on PG2, which is good.

Not sure why a post like this couldn't have been put out several weeks ago though. It surely can't have taken long to type it and it isn't divulging any details of what we are likely to see in PG2. Still, good to see it will at some point see the light of day and is built from scratch and not just a port of JNPG using a new version of Unity.

As for GB's poo-pooing of sticking with Unity, as the Dev's are using a more recent version of Unity than the 5.2.3 that the old game was built on, I would hope that collision detection for 3D objects and rolling balls will be sorted.

I think I remember Andrew confirming in the past that all the courses they build for TV broadcasts are playable. The issue would be to do with licensing as to whether they ever get released for the game Maybe having the partnership with Trackman may make getting licensed content a little easier than it did back when it was just PP on their own.

I would guess that for Trackman to be able to include the course within their simulator package it has to be licensed and i'm sure Trackman would want to offer their sim user market a vast library of courses like they did when using the E6 engine in the past.

I, for one, am not tired playing this game.  Still the best golf game available.  Other than a few courses there has been no additional cost through the years.  I appreciate that former Links coders, have taken the time and resources to bring us such a great golf game.  You must appreciate that Andrew and company have kept this game going while still trying to make a living.  It can't or couldn't have been easy.  I can wait for PG2 and I understand the long waits for an update, yes an update saying they are revamping the whole game is an update.  If Andrew could have responded earlier I am sure he would have.  Have fun, enjoy the game and be patient.

You are a stellar member and advocate, Riddler.   I personally appreciate posts like yours, as do many other people who understand (from afar) how incredibly dedicated Mike, Andrew and staff have been just keeping this game afloat.

Kudos!

Here's a goodie they could slip a course to one of the designers, he then could alter a few miner things and then release it under another name, hehehe.

Great post Riddler and spot on.  I play all the video golf games but without doubt there is no better than JNPG and still play every day that I can.

Just nipped into forum for first time in a couple of weeks to see if I've missed anything and then saw this post- encouraging I would say/hope without much being said to which I presume NDAs are in full effect

Great news about them not giving up on PG2 but I kind of also am wondering on the designer part of it. I have 5 courses in various stages that I was hoping to wait for PG2 to finish because I am wasn't really happy with PG1 and it's physics. It's still a good game but if i'm going to release them seeing that grass got me excited and I wanted my courses to look and play their best before releasing.

Now if PG2 goes the way of not releasing a designer with the game that may hurt it's sales but it may not either if they make there courses available for a reasonable price. What they were charging before wasn't nothing to be concerned about and I would buy everyone of the tour courses they put out. I would never allow PP and TM to make money off my designs though but mine are real anyways and they would need a license with the course to make money off of it.

I guess whether or not there will be a CF2 is the next question. Would certainly let the current community designers know where they stand.

Surely a quick Yes or No from Andrew or Mike is not in breach of any Trackman NDA.

I'd have to admit, I'd probably check out if PG2 didn't have a design program, or otherwise didn't allow content made in Course Forge to be ported over.

I certainly get a thrill out of seeing guys play my versions of Pebble and Spyglass on simulators on YouTube... I'm not sure that kind of thing could happen in future releases of the game if Trackman decides it doesn't want unlicensed content.

I'd certainly be happy to design in an official capacity, but that's a whole other can of worms.

I would also be very disappointed if there is no sort of course designer but would be surprised if there is not one- it makes more sense from a business point of view to have one as long as it is not expensive as it will attract and or keep a larger number of potential sales for the product
