I am back from holidays and back to Steam "Help messages". Not sure yet what they are going to do.
I will post if anything comes from it.
I could see if re activation let you back in at the original price and thus original date was used but if this ends up being the higher price it should not be back dated. There are some serious issues with subscriptions and us early ones on board.

So it seems nothing can be done. Steam says it's a publishers decision on the price charged and can't renew my subscription at the original price. Issue seems to be from what they say is due to me getting double billed two years ago and getting a credit which had to sit for a year before it was used.
Can't figure out how one member (part of beta) can get this fixed so that the renewed subscription is back to normal but another with the same issue can't.
The only option is to re purchase from the in game store at $250 usd.
